Most protection features work by disabling a Songtrix operation which is normally available for editing, or producing output from a song.
The following aspects of protection can be applied to any song or style during the Package Song process. If any or all of them are applied, then a padlock icon appears in the banner of the packaged song.
Lock Credits
Prevents the change of any details entered in the Credits page, including the song title, comments, or music and lyrics credits as displayed in the song banner.
If printing is still enabled, this feature also overrides some of the Page settings for song reports.
In particular, it forces report footers to include the Title and Credits items in the Page Footer, regardless of the settings or template otherwise being used.
Lock Structure
Prevents changes to the song structure, including the following aspects:
• Inclusion of song tracks
• Updating of track links
• Exchanging tracks
• Changing track styles
Prevent Editing
Prevents changes to most song content, including:
• Joining and splitting segments
• Editing song markers, volume or tempo changes
• Recording segments and events
• Clearing, cutting or pasting events
• Adjusting track events
Prevent Resave
Even in a fully protected song, some settings can still be changed to ensure the recipient is able to play or view your work with flexibility.
This option prevents any of these changes from being saved back to the protected song (or to a different file) so that your work can never be permanently changed or misrepresented.
If you want to apply this option, you should probably also use Prevent Repackage(and possibly Prevent Export) for the same reason.
Prevent Repackage
Prevents a packaged song from being modified via a subsequent packaging process. Also prevents it from being uploaded directly to the ChordWizard Network via Network View.
Prevent Copy
Prevents any part of the protected song from being copied to the clipboard for use elsewhere.
This applies to copying a selected range of the song, and individual events.
Prevent Export
Prevents any part of the protected song from being exported to a Midi, Wave or Mp3 file.
This means that the song can only be played from within Songtrix or another ChordWizard application which respects the applied protection.
Prevent Printing
Disables the printing of the song reports - Staff Sheet, Lyric Sheet and Chord Sheet. The other report types are still available.
With this protection feature Print Preview is still available, so a low resolution report layout can be browsed, but actual printing is prevented.
Link To Publisher
This feature hardwires your ChordWizard Network member ID into the packaged song, and displays a publisher icon in the song banner.
When this icon is clicked (or when Song-Publisher is used), Songtrix attempts to show your member profile in Network View. If there are login or other problems with this, it shows the your profile in a new external browser window instead.
In this way, you can ensure that your published songs will actively refer back to you, reinforcing your claim to copyright, wherever they end up.
Through the ChordWizard Network, your audience can also contact you (possibly for licensing terms or collaboration) without you needing to expose your email address to abuse.
