Some of the commands in Songtrix are actions which apply not only to the focus cell, but to the selected range of cells. If no range is selected, these commands act only on the focus cell itself.
Focus and Range
A range is formed by extending the focus cell either horizontally or vertically (or both), by dragging with the mouse or other methods. Ranges are always rectangular, and are indicated with inverted colors in work sheets.
Within the range, one of the cells is always still the focus cell. You can move the focus cell around within limits of the selected range using the Tab and Shift+Tab keystrokes.
Range and Views
As with the focus cell, the selected range is coordinated between Mixer View, Track View and Staff View, so you can switch views at any time, and retain the same range.
The work sheet range shown above, if you switch to Staff View, would appear as below in the staff sheet.
Selecting Ranges
There are many ways of selecting a range in either the work sheet or staff sheet.
• You can click and drag directly with the mouse across a range of cells.
• Shift+Click selects the range cornered by the target cell and the current focus cell.
• Using any of the focus cell navigation keys while holding down the Shift key will extend or reduce the range.
• Hovering at the top of a bar or the start of a track gives you an arrow which will select the whole bar or track. You can sweep across several bars or tracks while holding the mouse button down.
There are also menu commands for selecting ranges.
| Key | Menu |
| Ctrl+A | Edit-Select-All |
| Edit-Select-Tracks | |
| Edit-Select-Bars | |
| Esc | Edit-Select-None |
| Edit-Select-Range |
The last command opens the Select Range window, where you can select a span of bars (or a whole section) for a single, or all tracks.
