All of the sounds your song produces come from the musical events contained in its segments. Events are also used for other aspects of the song, such as lyrics.
Songtrix offers a variety of different event types, each of which simulates a different playing technique or effect. With careful selection of events, you can easily create musical performances that sound very realistic.
The main environment for working with events is the segment sheet, in which you place events on lines that represent the scope (available sounds) of each track. Scope can be adjusted in the track setup.
Segment sheets appear differently for each track type, although most of their features are the same for all tracks.
Events are very flexible. They have a set of properties which you can edit individually or for a group of events. These include the location, duration and velocity of the event, and a range of others to manage the effects of specific event types.
You can also make adjustments to all events in a selected range, which is a powerful and convenient way to apply transformations such as boosting velocities, applying track fade effects, transposing, humanizing or quantizing events.
New events can be easily created in segment sheets, using the computer keyboard and mouse. If you can play the piano keyboard (or another Midi instrument) and have one attached, you may prefer to record the events instead. You can still edit them later to fix any mistakes.
Even if you don't play the piano keyboard well, Songtrix offers recording features that can help you sound a pro.
