The Tempo Change window is opened from the workspace with the following command:
| Button | Menu |
| Song-Tempo Change |
It allows you to make a change to the tempo at the selected bar, or across the selected bar span.
Tempo changes are always relative to the master tempo specified in the song setup (or the mixer panel). So, if the master tempo is changed, the tempo changes are proportionally adjusted to suit.
Tempo is measured in quarter notes per minute (qpm). Tempo change values are limited from 25% to 400% of the master tempo.
Controls
Bar Span
Specifies the bar (or bar span) over which the tempo change should take place. A gradual slow down (rallentando) or speed up (accelerando) across a bar span can be achieved in a single action using a Gradient To change.
The default span is taken from the selected range in the work sheet or staff sheet.
From Tempo
Displays the prevailing tempo at the start of the selected span in the song. This is the starting tempo for Gradient To changes if no Step To change is specified.
Step To
Specifies the new tempo to establish at the start of the bar (or span). If not specified, the prevailing tempo at the start of the span will continue.
Gradient To
Specifies the tempo to be in force at the end of the bar (or span). The tempo will be adjusted gradually across the span from the starting tempo, which will be either the Step To tempo (if specified) or the prevailing tempo (if not).
Preview
Shows a preview of how the tempo change will be indicated in work sheets.
OK
Closes the window and implements the tempo change across the selected bar span.
Cancel
Returns to the workspace without making any change.
