The Links page appears in the Song Setup property window and also in the New Song process.
It lets you choose how the tracks in your song are linked together.
Linking is a powerful feature in Songtrix, which allows the chords, scales and events in tracks to guide the development of other tracks.
Linked tracks can be updated automatically when the master track changes. In a fully linked song, selecting a different chord will automatically reharmonize the other tracks to suit the new chord over the affected span.
Only the tracks included in your song are available for linking, so you may see fewer options than those shown above.
Options
Show Melody
Specifies whether the events in the Melody track should be displayed when editing the Lyrics track with segment sheets. This is very helpful for the correct placement of lyric text, and is generally recommended.
Snap To Notes
Specifies whether the lyric text cursor is automatically located to adjacent melody events during editing, when the Left and Right arrow or Tab keys are pressed. It also auditions these melody events whenever the related lyric events are created, or receive the focus for editing. This makes the correct placement of lyric text much easier, and is generally recommended.
Show Scales
There are three of these options, between the Scales track and each of the Melody, Riff and Bass tracks.
They show or hide scale guides in the background of segment sheets when editing the melody events in the linked tracks. Scale guides indicate which notes are compatible with the key centres of the song at each location.
Reharmonize
There are three of these options, between the Scales track and each of the Melody, Riff and Bass tracks.
They cause the pitches of melody events in the linked tracks to be updated to suit the new key centre when a scale is changed.
Auto Select
Specifies whether the Scales track is updated when the Chords track changes. When active, the selection of a different chord will automatically result in the selection of a compatible key centre.
This may in turn cause the Melody, Riff or Bass tracks to be updated, if they are also linked to the Scales track with the Reharmonize option.
Chord Relations
Specifies whether blue dots should be shown in scale matrix controls throughout the workspace to indicate which scales are related to the chords in the Chords track. This is helpful for manually selecting key centres.
Scale Relations
Specifies whether red dots should be shown in chord matrix controls throughout the workspace to indicate which chords are related to the scales in the Scales track. This is helpful for exploring chords within a key centre.
Show Chords
Specifies whether the chords in the Chords track should be displayed when editing the Rhythm track with segment sheets. This is very helpful for synchronizing the rhythm events that use the chord tones, and is generally recommended.
