The Tracks page appears in the Song Setup property window and also in the New Song process.
It lets you include or exclude any of the tracks that Songtrix can work with, to configure them and to adjust their track setup.
The eight possible tracks are the Lyrics, Melody, Riff, Scales, Chords, Rhythm, Bass and Drums tracks. The Chords and Rhythm track work as a pair, so they are included or excluded together.
Each track appears as a color-coded row when included in the song by the tick on the left. The five tracks which produce sound output have controls for muting and selecting channels and styles.
Controls
Mute
Mutes (or removes the mute from) the track. Mute has the effect of disabling the sound output of the track, while leaving the track level setting undisturbed. Muted tracks are displayed throughout the workspace with a gray background or gray staff symbols.
Channel
Specifies the Midi channel to be used for the track during playback.
The Drums track should usually be set to ch.09 (or ch.10 for 1-based numbering) to comply with General Midi. The other tracks should use other channels.
All tracks should use different channels to prevent conflicts.
Style
Selects the style which will be the source for any autostyle segments in the track.
If the Apply To setting for styles has been set to All Tracks then all tracks use the same style and only the top control is active. If set to Each Track, then styles can be selected independently for each track.
Test Style
Auditions a bar of the selected style for each track, to help you decide which one to use.
Track Setup
On the right is a column of buttons, which open the Track Setup window for each track. Each track is represented by a different icon throughout the workspace.
