The Edit Segment window can be opened in Mixer View with the following command:
| Button | Key | Menu |
| Ctrl+E | Segment-Edit |
It opens the selected segment in the song, so that the its events can be edited. The Edit Segment window contains a segment sheet, and a set of controls for managing the sheet display, the segment tools, and the events.
This window presents an identical set of functions to those offered in Track View, with a couple of significant differences.
It is slightly less convenient, because it needs to be opened and closed each time for editing. Also the track setup cannot be modified from within this window, as it can from the workspace.
To offset these, there is a big advantage. Whereas the the segment sheet must share Track View with the work sheet and the other controls, this window can be enlarged to occupy the whole screen if desired, giving a much more spacious canvas for detailed work.
This is achieved by hovering the mouse over any window border or corner to get a double arrow pointer, and then dragging to resize. Opposite borders are resized at the same time, to keep the window centered at the same screen position.
Controls
V-Zoom
Controls the vertical magnification of the segment sheet. These commands are not active for rhythm segments or lyric segments, where the height is automatically controlled. Zoom To Height chooses the magnification which best fits the entire vertical scope of the segment into the available height.
H-Zoom
Controls the horizontal magnification of the segment sheet. Zoom To Width chooses the magnification which best fits the entire horizontal span of the segment into the available width. If the span is too large to fit even at the lowest zoom (25%) then the magnification is reset to 100% instead.
Snap To Grid
Grid Lines
Controls the how many grid lines are shown in the segment sheet for each quarter note of duration. Snap To Grid specifies whether event lengths and positions are snapped to the nearest grid line when being created or edited.
Setup Track
Opens the Track Setup window, which allows you to adjust the scope or controls of the track. The command icon and pages vary, depending on the track.
Properties
Shows or hides the properties table in the segment sheet.
Select All Events
Selects all events in the segment.
Segment Tools
Contains the Selection Tool and a collection of other tools for creating new segment events. The specific tools shown here depend on the track type.
Repeat
Converts the segment into a repeat segment, discarding any events it contains.
If already a repeat segment, converts it to a standard segment and renders any virtual events into real events which can be edited.
Autostyle
Converts the segment into an autostyle segment, discarding any events it contains.
If already an autostyle segment, converts it to a standard segment and renders any virtual events into real events which can be edited.
Undo
The Edit Segment window manages its own list of actions to undo, separate from the main action list in the workspace. You can undo any editing changes back to the original state of the segment when you opened the window.
When you press OK, the sum of changes you have made in this window will become a single undo action in the main workspace list.
Redo
Reinstates the last change you have undone to the segment. You can undo and redo the whole list of actions up to the current limit.
Go To Start
While editing segments, one bar always has the focus, and it appears with a lighter color background and a bold bar number. Playback and other operations begin at the focus bar.
This button moves the focus to the first bar in the segment.
Prior Bar
Moves the focus leftwards to the prior bar.
Next Bar
Moves the focus rightwards to the next bar.
Play
Starts playback of the segment from the focus bar, and continues to the last bar in segment, or until you stop playback by pressing this button again.
The other tracks are also played to give the context of the track you are editing within the song.
Play Solo
Starts solo playback of the segment from the focus bar, and continues to the last bar in segment, or until you stop solo playback by pressing this button again.
Play Bar
Starts playback of all tracks at the current bar for a single bar only. This is useful for auditioning a small portion of the segment in the context of the song when editing.

OK
Accepts any changes made to the events in the segment, returns to the workspace and updates the song.
The workspace is also updated with the current focus bar and the view settings for the track. These include the grid lines, zoom sizing, the properties table state, and the tool defaults settings.
Cancel
Closes the window and returns to the workspace, discarding any changes made to events, settings or the focus bar.
