In Songtrix, songs are assembled from tracks, each of which contains a musical part, or manages an aspect, of the song. Tracks can be included or excluded with the Song Setup window.
There are several track types, but they can be divided into three main categories.
Control Track
This defines the structure of the song itself, including the bars, time signatures, key signatures, tempo and volume changes, and section markers. Each song has exactly one control track.
Harmony Tracks
These include the Chords and Scales tracks. They do not produce sound during playback, but guide the output and development of the other tracks by defining chords and key centres.
Event Tracks
These include the Riff, Melody, Rhythm, Bass and Drums tracks, which contain the musical events generating sound during playback, and the Lyrics track.
Track Setup
Each track has a set of properties, known as the track setup, which control its appearance, behaviour or sound output.
These can be modified with the Track Setup window, which contains different pages of settings, depending on the track type.
Track setup can be accessed in many ways from the workspace, and is indicated for each track with a different icon.
