Repeat Segments are specially marked segments which do not contain chords, scales or events of their own, but simply repeat the content of the previous segment.
They are particularly helpful with the Rhythm and Drums track for developing and propagating rhythm patterns throughout a song.
You can convert between standard and repeat segments with the following command, which can apply to a single segment or a whole range.

| Segment-Repeat |
When you convert a standard segment to a repeat segment, any content of its own is discarded.
Repeat Markers
Repeat segments are indicated with the repeat marker, as shown below. This is similar to the symbol often used in sheet music for the same purpose.
The gray shadows within the segments are virtual events. They are not real events which can be edited. Instead, they are an automatically generated copy of the previous segment, and will change instantly with the source events.
Repeat segments can be chained together in a series, as shown above. Each will use the closest standard segment as the source of its events.
Harmony segments can also be repeat segments, which extend the coverage of the previous chord or scale, while retaining the flexibility to add other chords or scales later.
Repeat Events
Repeat segments are indicated within segment sheets by a repeat marker in the bottom left of the sheet.
The virtual events are shown in gray, but you cannot select them or view their properties.
When a repeat segment is converted to a standard segment, the virtual repeat events are rendered into real events which can be selected and edited in the usual way.
Manually creating a new event in a repeat segment converts it to an empty standard segment first, discarding all repeat events.
Pattern Sizes
If a repeat segment is shorter than the source segment, only the source events up to the length of the repeat segment are repeated.
If a repeat segment is longer than the source segment, the source events loop as many times as required to fill the repeat segment.
This gives you great flexibility to create patterns of not just a single bar, but of two or more bars, making the repetition much more subtle.
Repeat with Reharmonize
A special option is available with repeat segments in the Melody, Riff and Bass tracks. This can be controlled with the Repeat Mode setting on the Controls page of their Track Setup windows.
Instead of simply repeating the notes of the source segment, the notes can be reharmonized to suit the chords or scales that apply in the area of the song covered by the repeat segment.
This allows you to quickly create a draft song by only filling in the first couple of bars, then using repeat segments to propagate these events throughout the rest of the song, even as the chords change. This is very similar to the way that styles work, but with the source and destination areas in the same song.
For reharmonized events to appear, there must be chords (or scales) defined for the source and destination areas. Otherwise, either no repeat events will appear or repeat events will appears with their original notes, depending on your setting for Repeat Mode.
