Manuals

In Songtrix, Rhythm Segments are used for the Rhythm track.  Their segment sheets have the following rhythm events available.

While rhythm segment sheets have the standard layout and operations of all segment sheets, they also have special features.

Scope Axis

With rhythm segments, the lines are indicated on the vertical axis with labeled boxes.  Each box represents the chord tone that the events on the line will play.

The number of tone lines in the track (scope) can be changed using the Inversions page of the Chords track setup.

The height of the tone lines is automatically adjusted to fit the available height of the segment sheet.  Because of this, the V-Zoom controls are not available (or needed) for rhythm segments.

Chords and Pitches

Since the Rhythm and Chords tracks work in partnership, you will almost always want to have the chords showing at the top of rhythm segment sheets.  This can be removed with the Show Chords option on the Links page.

In Track View, If you want to look more closely at, or change a particular chord, you can click on the space that it occupies to jump directly to the area for editing chords.

The chord inversions provide the pitches of the tones in the rhythm segment, and a different set may apply for each chord.

At every chord change, the pitches of the tones are indicated with labels superimposed over the top of any events.

Multitone Events

Because rhythm segments are designed for playing chords, rhythm events can span across multiple tone lines.  Event height can vary from a single tone line up to all available tones.

An extra mouse operation is available to change the height of a rhythm event.  By hovering over the handle on the top or bottom edge of the event, you will get a double-pointed arrow which can stretch the event vertically.

As you drag, the High Tone and Low Tone properties in the properties table are updated.

Rhythm events can also be created with a slightly different movement.  Instead of simply dragging from left to right, you can also drag diagonally from top-left to bottom-right, to create events across multiple tone lines.

Strum Chords

The Strum Chord event has additional control handles when selected, to adjust the Timing of the strum.

These are located at the top-left and bottom-left corners of the event, and can be dragged horizontally to change the angle of the leading edge, which directly represents the speed and direction of the strum.

As you drag, the Timing property in the properties table is updated.

Bend Chords

The Bend Chord event has additional control handles when selected, to manipulate the shape of the pitch bend effect.

While the bend range, and the number of bend points used for the event are specified in the properties table, the actual bending of pitch at each point can only be done with the mouse by dragging the handles up or down.
