The Event Properties table can appear at the right of any segment sheet.
It displays, and allows you to update, the properties of the selected event.
The table can be shown or hidden with the following command, which is available on the segment bar, the Edit Segment window, and the right-click menu:
| Button | Menu |
| Segment-Events -Properties |
Resizing
The properties table can be resized to best advantage by hovering over the left border of the table. When you get a double-point arrow you can click-and-drag to resize.
Properties
Each row in the table contains one of the event's properties, with a label and an editable value. Some values are edited as plain text (such as Velocity), while others use a drop down list (such as Type).
The set of properties listed depends on the type of events selected. There is a wide range of possible properties for melody, rhythm, lyric and drum events.
Tool Defaults
If no events are selected, but a segment tool is active, the table has a caption of Tool Defaults and displays the default properties which will be applied when the tool is used to create a new event.
The default properties can be edited in the same way as regular properties. Once changed, they will apply to all new events created in the segments of the track.
Multi-Selection
Properties of more than one event can be updated at the same time, if the events are part of a multiple selection. In this case, the properties listed apply to all selected events.
Editing the properties of multiple selections works in a similar way to a single event, with a couple of differences.
Firstly, only the properties shared by all events are listed. In the example above, the selection includes a vibrato note, which would normally have Dynamic and Dyn Depth properties. However, the other event in the selection is a simple note which does have these properties, so they are not listed.
Secondly, if a property value varies for events within a multiple selection, it is displayed blank, but you can still update it for all events by entering a value.
In the example above, the Location and Velocity values are the same for both selected events and are shown, but the Type, Note and Duration value are different and so are left blank.
Editing Locations
Songtrix uses bar.beat.tick format to display locations of events. If a bar is in 4/4 with a Tpq=144, then 1.1.000 is the starting location and 1.4.143 is the ending location.
Because the structure of the song is known, normalization is performed on your entries, which may change the text. For the example bar above, if you enter 1.2.144 it will be accepted, but converted to the more correct 1.3.000. Similarly, 1.5.000 will be converted to 2.1.000.
Incomplete entries will be interpreted as clearly as possible, and can be used as a convenient shorthand for entry. Some examples are shown below.
| Entry | Becomes |
| 2 | 2.1.000 |
| 1.4 | 1.4.000 |
| 1.4.36 | 1.4.036 |
| 1.4.1 | 1.4.001 |
Editing Durations
Songtrix uses qtn.tick format to display durations of events. As with locations, these are normalized, and interpreted if necessary, on entry. Some examples are shown below, for Tpq=144.
| Entry | Becomes |
| 1 | 1.000 |
| .12 | 0.012 |
| .2 | 0.002 |
| 1.144 | 2.000 |
