The Transpose page appears in the Tranpose Track property window (invoked by Track-Transpose) together with the Selection page, which specifies the range of the song to be transposed.
The transpose operation affects melody events and chords and scales in the selected range, lifting them up or down in pitch by a specified interval.
If all tracks are included in the range, it will also add or modify key signature markers to reflect the transposition. If the whole song is selected, the default key signature of the song is adjusted also.
The Note Range of affected melody tracks are expanded if necessary to contain the transposed events.
Controls
From
Allows you to specify the Interval of transposition either directly, or with an example key. The transpose operation is performed identically either way, this simply offers an alternative way to specify the shift.
By
If From is set to (by interval), then the list contains all intervals from an octave up through to an octave down, as illustrated in the picture above.
If (none) is selected, then no action can be taken, and the OK button in the property window is disabled.
To
If From is set to a specific key, then the list contains the same intervals, but represented instead as alternative keys. You may find this a more convenient way of selecting an interval.
For example, if you want to transpose upwards by two semitones, you would select Interval (+) 2. If you specified that you are transposing From Key of C, then the same list item would appear as Key of D.
If From and To are the same keys, then no action can be taken, and the OK button in the property window is disabled.
