The Shift page appears in the Shift Track property window (invoked by Track-Shift) together with the Selection page, which specifies the range of the song to adjust.

It also appears in the Adjust Events property window, invoked from segment sheets, when Shift is selected in the Operation page.

The Shift operation move events forwards (advances) or backwards (delays) in the song.  This allows you to adjust the alignment of events relative to the bar structure of the song.

The bar structure itself is unaffected by the Shift operation.  Only the events, chords and scales in the song are shifted within it, and if any of them are shifted beyond the start or end of the song, they may be discarded, depending on the At Segment Limits setting.

Shift By

You can choose to shift by a convenient division of the beat (expressed in quarter notes), or by a precise number of ticks.  Whichever form you use, the operation works the same, and the shift is limited to 4 Qtn. 

If you need a larger shift than this, you can perform the operation repeatedly, but usually the same effect can be achieved more easily by inserting or deleting bars.

Direction

Specifies the direction of the shift.  Advance will move the events leftwards so they occur sooner, and Delay will move the events rightwards so they occur later.

At Segment Limits

Specifies what should happen to events whose location would be shifted beyond the start or end of their segment.

Limit Events - move the events hard up against the start or end of the segment.  This may cause noticeable timing aberrations.

Wrap Events - wrap events around to the start or end of the same segment.  This is appropriate for repetitive patterns, such as in rhythm or drum segments.

Delete Events - delete the events.  Their absence may be noticeable.

Transfer Events - transfer the events to the prior or next segment.  If that is a repeat or autostyle segment, it is converted to a standard segment first, so it can accept the transferred event.
