A major feature in Songtrix is the ability to split tracks into segments of shorter lengths.

Harmony tracks are usually split into many segments, as each chord or scale is stored in a different segment.

By default, a new Chords track or Scales track is split into segments at each bar, but you can further split them, rejoin them or stretch them as required.  You can extend the effect of a chord or scale by marking the subsequent segments as repeat segments.

Event tracks can either be split into segments or not, depending on their type.  The Lyrics, Melody, Riff and Bass tracks are generally configured as a single segment that covers the whole track.

On the other hand, the Rhythm and Drums tracks often use repeating patterns of events, and these musical ideas can be very effectively developed and propagated through the song, with a combination of event segments and repeat segments.

By default, a new Rhythm track or Drums track is split into segments at each bar, but you can rejoin them into larger segments, or a single segment for the whole track.

Event tracks can also contain autostyle segments, which are filled with virtual events generated by the track's selected style.

Because segment borders are not shown in staff sheets, most operations for managing segments are not available in Staff View.
