Harmony segments have the special ability to be stretched.
While event segments can be split only at bar divisions, the only restriction on harmony segments is that their borders should be at locations which are multiples of Qtn/6 (one-sixth of a quarter note).
While most chord and key centre changes in most songs fall neatly on bar or half-bar boundaries, there are many songs with more interesting timing where changes occur at unusual divisions within bars.
In these cases, the stretchability of harmony segments allow the chord and scale contexts in these songs to be defined precisely.
Simple Stretch
Stretching can only be performed with a work sheet, and is quite straightforward. First you must hover over a harmony border until the mouse pointer becomes a double arrow.
Then you can click and drag the border horizontally to a different location. The limits of stretching are determined by the segments on either side of the border, which must remain at least a minimum size of Qtn/6.
When the border is where you want it, release the mouse button and the two segments on either side are resized to fit.
Double Stretch
When a song contains both a Chords and Scales track, you usually want the segments in each to remain synchronized with each other.
Therefore segments in all harmony tracks which share a common border will be stretched in the same action.
Range Stretch
When a range of segments is selected and a border within the range is stretched, all subsequent borders within the range are also stretched by the same movement.
