Manuals

In Songtrix, Melody Segments are used for Melody, Riff and Bass tracks.  Each track has a different coloring, but they all work in the same way.

Their segment sheets have the following melody events available.

While melody segment sheets have the standard layout and operations of all segment sheets, they also have special features.

Scope Axis

With melody segments, the lines are indicated on the vertical axis with a piano keyboard.  Each piano key represents the pitch that the events on the line will play.  The dotted key is Middle C.

You can hover the mouse over any line, and its pitch will be displayed in a tool tip above the piano key.

The range of piano keys in the track (scope) can be changed using the Note Range page.

Bend Notes

The Bend Note event has additional control handles when selected, to manipulate the shape of the pitch bend effect.

While the bend range, and the number of bend points used for the event are specified in the properties table, the actual bending of pitch at each point can only be done with the mouse by dragging the handles up or down.

Scale Guides

If there is a Scales track present in the song, it can be linked to the melody track you are editing, using the Show Scales option.

In this case, scale guides will appear in the background of melody segments to indicate which pitches are part of the key centres in the song.  The dark colors indicate the root note of the scale used at each location.
