The Note Range page appears in the Track Setup property window for the Melody, Riff and Bass tracks.
It specifies the the scope of the track, which is the range of pitches to be made available as melody segment lines.
You can use the entire Midi pitch range of ten and a half octaves if you wish, but a large range is less convenient to work with in segment sheets, and reduces the detail that can be shown in the work sheets.
In general, you should choose the smallest range that you need, with a minimum of one octave. You can always extend it later.
The Preview area shows your current settings for Top and Bottom notes on staff lines. The shaded background is the range of pitches already used by events in the track. You cannot exclude the used range unless you delete these events first.
At the bottom, the current range is shown as a number of octaves plus semitones (fractional octave).
