Lyric Events are available in the Lyrics track. They are placed into lyric segments.
Text is the only type of lyric event, and it has a tool for creating new events on a lyric segment sheet, shown below (next to the Selection Tool).
Each event contains a syllable or word of lyrics and is placed at the particular location in the song where the syllable would be sung.
Lyric events are simply text and are not included in playback, but they can be exported to Midi files.
Entering Lyrics
Since text is most easily entered by typing on the keyboard, it would be tedious to create each event by dragging with the mouse (as with the other events) before typing its contents.
Instead, selecting the Text tool places the segment sheet in edit mode, giving you a cursor which can be moved around with the keyboard, as you would expect.
Events are sized for your words and syllables as you type. New events are automatically created whenever you break a word or syllable by typing a space or hyphen, or using the Tab or arrow keys.
Editing Lyrics
Lyric events share many similarities with the other event types, such as the ability to be selected, moved and stretched with the mouse, using the Selection Tool.
A difference is that all events are placed on the same line in the lyric sheet, and they cannot overlap.
You can move or stretch lyric events horizontally, by placing the mouse over the event, or the handle blocks on each side or corner.
Like other types, Text events have properties which can be edited in Event Properties table. They are as follows:
| Type | Text is the only event type. |
| Location | The starting location (left hand edge) of the event, in bar.beat.tick format. |
| Duration | The time length (visual width) of the event, in qtn.tick format. |
| Text | The actual text in the event. It can be edited here, but it is usually more convenient to edit the event directly. |
