The Select Events window is opened from segment sheets, using Segment-Events-Select (from Track View only) or the right-click menu.

It offers a set of selection criteria for events, which can be convenient for selecting events in densely populated segments, or events which are not physically grouped together.

Each criteria has detail fields which become active to receive the selection details.  You can use the Select Events window repeatedly to combine multiple criteria.

Controls

Location

Selects events whose starting point is within the specified location span.

The ending location is not included in the span.  So, for the example above, all events starting from 1.1.000 up to, but not including, 2.1.000 will be selected.

Either field can be left blank to leave ends of the span open.  For example, if the ending location is left blank, all events at or after the starting location in the segment will be selected.

Type

Select events of the specified type, wherever they are located in the segment.  The event types listed here will vary according to the track type.

Duration

Selects events whose length is within the specified duration range.

Either field can be left blank to leave ends of the range open.  For example, if the longer duration is left blank, all events with length greater than (or equal to) the shorter duration will be selected.

Velocity

Selects events whose velocity is within the specified range.  Velocity can be expressed as a Midi value or a percentage, as you prefer.  This is not available for lyric events, which have no velocity.

Either field can be left blank to leave the ends of the range open.  For example if the upper limit is left blank, all events greater than (or equal to) the minimum velocity will be selected.

Note/Tone/Drum

Selects events which are on the specified segment line.

The label and contents of this criteria varies for melody, rhythm and drum segments.  It is not available for lyric segments, which have only one line.

For rhythm segments, any multitone events which cover the specified tone line will be selected.

Combine Selection

The selection you specify can Replace or be combined with any existing selection in the segment sheet.

With Union, events which meet your criteria will be added to the existing selection.  With Intersection, only the events in the existing selection which also meet your criteria will remain selected.

You can use these two options to create a selection based on a combination of criteria.

OK

Closes the window and updates the event selection in the segment sheet.

Cancel

Returns to the segment sheet without making any change to the event selection.
