The Chord page appears in the Edit Chord property window. This is opened in Mixer View by double-clicking a chord cell in the work sheet, or using the following command:
| Button | Key | Menu |
| Ctrl+E | Segment-Edit |
While the work sheet allows you to select a chord in a drop down matrix, the Edit Chord window offers the full range of options for adjusting the inversions of chords.
Exactly the same controls are available in Track View, using the chord matrix, chord bar and relations panel.
If there is a scale defined in the Scales track at this location in the song, the chords related to it may be indicated with red dots.
You can switch to the Relations page to see how the notes in the scale and your selected chord inversion compare with each other.
Controls
Chord Matrix
The chord matrix is the main feature of the Chord page, and shows which chord is selected. Most of the other controls on the page are inactive if there is no chord selection.
Set Root Name
Selects whether to use a specific name for the root note of the chord. If not, the nominated default name is used. This is only available where the root is an accidental note.
Set Bass Pitch
Selects whether to use a specific bass pitch for the chord inversion. If not, the bass pitch will be selected automatically based on the Chords track setup and the previous chord.
Set Inversion
Selects whether to use specific pitches for tones of the chord inversion. If not, the inversion will be generated automatically based on the Chords track setup and the previous chord. A specific inversion created in this way will be an ascending series starting from the bass pitch.
Custom Inversion
Opens the Custom Inversion window, which offers complete flexibility in selecting the tones of the chord inversion. It does not even require the selection of a chord.
Repeat
Converts the chord segment to a repeat segment or back to a standard segment. As a repeat segment, it will simply reflect the chord inversion in the previous segment, and most controls will be inactive.
Raise Inversion
Raises the inversion of the chord so it starts at the next highest possible bass pitch.
Lower Inversion
Lowers the inversion of the chord so it starts at the next lowest possible bass pitch.
Play Chord
Auditions the sound of the chord in its specified inversion.
