The Lyric Sheet page appears in the Printing Options property window for the Lyric Sheet report.

In addition to the controls shown below, there are extra buttons which are common to all property windows.

The Lyric Sheet report is a format where the lyrics, rather than the bars, are the primary layout mechanism.

This report is quite different to, and usefully supplements the Staff Sheet and Chord Sheet reports.

Lyric sheets can include lyrics and optionally chords, presenting them concisely as whole words in stanzas, rather than as separate syllables according to their timing.

Special characters in the lyric events influence the layout of text in this report.

Controls

Include Sections

Specifies that section markers (Verse, Chorus, etc) if any, will be displayed in the report, causing a line break between each section.

If not ticked, all lyrics (and chords) are presented in a continuous stream, and the Section controls are disabled.

Include Chords

Specifies that chords, if any, will be displayed in the report.

If not ticked, only lyrics are presented, and the Chords controls are disabled.

Include Lyrics

Specifies that lyrics, if any, will be displayed in the report.

If not ticked, only chords are presented, and the Lyrics controls are disabled.

Layout Sizing

Controls the overall sizing of text in the report, including the lyrics, chords and section markers.  These individual elements can be adjusted relative to each other with the Formatting page.

The sizing value can in the range of 50% to 150% of standard size, and adjusted in 2% increments.  This allows you fine control when attempting to fit a song onto a single or double page.

Line Spacing

Controls the spacing between the lines in the report.  If lyrics and chords are present, a line consists of both rows of text, and it controls the spacing between adjacent pairs.

The value selected can be any one of Smallest, Smaller, Normal, Larger or Largest.  If only lyrics or chords are present alone, the Smallest and Smaller values have no effect.

Section Gaps

Controls the spacing between sections when Include Sections is ticked.

The value selected can be any one of Smallest, Smaller, Normal, Larger or Largest.

Marker Labels

Determines how marker labels are aligned on the report when each new section begins.  This can be either of the following options:

With Text - markers are placed horizontally to synchronize with the lyric or chord text at the same location in the song.  This is useful if you want the whole song to appear as a single stream.

Left Align - markers are placed at the start of the line where they occur, to create more of a heading effect.  Markers can force a line break if this option is selected in the Layout page of the Lyrics track.

Prevent Breaks Across Pages

Forces all text for a section to appear on the same page, so a stanza will not be disrupted by splitting into two parts across pages.

Long sections whose text is greater than the length of a page will still be broken.

Slash Bass

Specifies how slash chord notation is to be handled in the display of chords:

None - don't use it at all

If Specified - use it for chords which have a non-root note specified as the bass pitch in their inversion

If Inversion - use it for chords which produce a non-root note as their bass pitch, whether specifically requested in their inversion, or automatically generated.

Beat Markers

Specifies which text character should be used to denote the beats in between chord changes.  Usually this is a slash (/), but alternatives you can use are:

• bar (|)

• backslash (\)

• period (.)

• comma (,)

• semicolon (;)

• colon (:)

Place Above Lyrics

Active only if both chords and lyrics appear in the report.  Specifies whether the chords should appear above the lyrics, or vice versa.

Rejoin Broken Words

Specifies that the individual syllables contained in lyric events should be rejoined for display in the report.

If ticked, all syllables ending in a hyphen (-) are joined to the following syllables to recreate the whole words of the song lyrics.

Otherwise, all syllables remain separate, and retain their hyphens to show how they would be joined into words.

Reset

Resets all settings on the page their defaults.
