The Layout page appears in the Track Setup property window for the Lyrics track.

In lyric segments, text events are sized automatically as their text is entered.  In some cases they are limited by the available space, such as when touching an existing event, or when Snap To Notes linking to the Melody track is active.

This page contains settings which affect the how the sizing of lyric text events is managed when there is no limit being imposed.

It also has settings which adjust your preferences for the layout of lyrics on Lyric Sheet reports.

Controls

Character Width

Specifies how many text characters should fit within a quarter note of duration in the track.

It can vary from 2/Qtn to 8/Qtn.  A higher value will fit more text, but may look horizontally compressed.

Minimum Duration

Specifies the minimum size of lyric text events, even if they contain only one text character.  It can vary from 1/24 Qtn to 1 Qtn.

Section Newlines

Specifies whether section markers in a song will automatically start on a new line in Lyric Sheet reports.  Usually this is helpful for automatically controlling the layout of the lyrics, but sometimes you may wish to disable this option and manage the newlines manually.

Never - sections are never forced to start on a new line (although it may still happen naturally depending on how the text wraps).

Auto - all sections are forced to start on a new line, except when the current line has already been started with a forced newline.  This is the default setting, and usually works best.

Always - all sections are forced to start on a new line, regardless of whether the current line was already started with a forced newline.

Comma Endline

Specifies that a comma ( , ) character at the end of a lyric event will trigger a new line in Lyric Sheet reports.

Period Endline

Specifies that a period ( . ) character at the end of a lyric event will  trigger a new line in Lyric Sheet reports.

Question Endline

Specifies that a question mark ( ? ) character at the end of a lyric event will trigger a new line in Lyric Sheet reports.

Exclamation Endline

Specifies that an exclamation mark ( ! ) character at the end of a lyric event will automatically trigger a new line for the following event in Lyric Sheet reports.

Preview

Shows a preview of how lyric event text will look in with the current settings when editing lyric segments.

Reset

Resets all settings on the page to their default values.
