The File Menu contains commands for working with song and style files, importing and exporting files, and printing reports.
The File menu is available in all views.
Some of the commands are also available as buttons on the tool bar.
Commands
New Song
Starts the New Song process, which guides you through the steps of creating a new song or style. If you press the Shift key when using this command, you bypass the New Song process and a simple 8-bar empty song is created.
Key: Ctrl+N
Open Song
Opens the Open Song window, where you can select a different song or style to open.
Key: Ctrl+O
Save Song
Saves any changes you have made since the current song or style file was last saved. If this is a new file, the Save Song As window will open instead, to request a file name.
Key: Ctrl+S
Save Song As
Opens the Save Song As window, where you can save a copy of the current song or style under a different file name. You can also use this process to transform a song into a style, or vice-versa.
Export Song
Starts the Export Song process, where you can export your song or style as a Midi, Wave or Mp3 file.
Import Midi
Starts the Import Midi process, which imports a Midi file as a new song or style.
Package Song
Starts the Package Song process, which prepares a copy of the current song or style for publication, optionally adding protection and a publisher link.
Print Preview
Switches to Print Preview, to show you how a report will look before it is printed. First you will need to select the type of report to preview in the Select Report window.
Print
Prints a report. First you will need to select the type of report to print in the Select Report window.
Key: Ctrl+P
(recent files)
Up to four menu commands may appear here, each of which is a link to a recently opened song or style file. They provide a shortcut for you to reopen a file you have been recently working on.
Exit
Exits from Songtrix.
