Manuals

The Edit Menu contains commands for navigating through and making changes to songs and styles in Songtrix.

The Edit menu is available in all views, but only has active commands in Mixer View, Track View and Staff View.

Some of the commands are also available as buttons on the tool bar or transport bar.

Commands

Undo

Reverses the last change you have made to current song.  You can select the number of previous changes that Songtrix remembers, using the General page.

Key: Ctrl+Z

Redo

Reinstates the last change you have undone to the current song.  This and the Undo command together allow you flexibly move backwards and forwards through your recent changes to compare the differences.

Key: Ctrl+Y

Cut

Clears the selected range of cells in the song and places it on the Windows clipboard.  The bars of the selected range are emptied, not removed.  If segment events are currently selected in Track View, these are cut to the clipboard instead.

Key: Ctrl+X

Copy

Copies the selected range of the song and places it on the Windows clipboard.  If segment events are currently selected in Track View, these are copied to the clipboard instead.

Key: Ctrl+C

Paste

Places the contents of the Windows clipboard into the song at the current location, replacing the original content.  If it will not fit, or if there is any ambiguity about your intentions, the Paste Special window will open instead, so you can specify exactly how the paste operation should be performed.

Key: Ctrl+V

Paste Special

Opens the Paste Special window, which gives you precise control over how the paste operation is performed.  You can choose to insert, append or merge content instead of replacing it, as well as transfer between tracks and other options.

Paste Style

Opens the Paste Style window, where you can copy snippets of musical events from a selected style directly into the current song.

Clear

Clears the selected range of cells in the song.

Key: Del

Go To > Start

Moves the focus to the first bar in the song.  Any selected range of cells is dropped.

Key: F4

Go To > Prior Cell

Moves the focus to the prior cell in the song.  Any selected range of cells is dropped.

Go To > Next Cell

Moves the focus to the next cell in the song.  Any selected range of cells is dropped.

Go To > Location

Opens the Go To Location window, which allows you to move the focus to the start or end of the song, or to a specific bar or section marker in the song.

Key: Ctrl+G

Select > All

Selects the entire content of the song.

Key: Ctrl+A

Select > Tracks

Select the entirety of all tracks covered by the current range.

Select > Bars

Select the entirety of all bars covered by the current range.

Select > None

Drops the selected range of cells (if any) and returns the focus to a single cell.

Key: Esc

Select > Range

Opens the Select Range window, where you can select a range of bars, a section or the whole song, for a single track or all tracks.  This provides an alternative to selecting a range with the mouse or keyboard directly.
