Scales represent the key centres of a song. They are usually chosen to suit the chords in a song, and provide guidance for the development of melody tracks.
The Scales track is optional, but can provide helpful insight into the harmony of your song, and enable extra facilities.
Songtrix offers a number of methods for selecting scales, but they are all based on the same set of controls.
If you have linked your Scales track to a Chords track with Chord Relations, you will be able to see which scales are related to the chords at each location in the song. These are usually appropriate choices.
If you use an Auto Select link, an appropriate scale is automatically chosen whenever a chord is entered or updated. You can still override these automatic choices.
