Manuals

The Diagrams page appears in the Printing Options property window for Chord Book and Scale Chart reports.

It allows you to control the size and presentation of the diagrams in the reports.

Controls

Fretboard

This option area controls the length of the fretboard diagrams shown in the reports.

You can have all diagrams display the Full Length of the fretboard, which is the same as the fretboard length specified in the Instrument options.

However, generally saves space to Trim the fretboard to the number of frets that are required to contain all chordshapes or scale positions in the report.  The Trim option is not available for Scale Charts with a Label Scheme series, since these always show the entire fretboard.

Otherwise the minimum number of frets available in this dropdown list is the smallest required to accommodate the scale fret span (for Scale Chart reports) or the chordshapes in the library (for Chord Book reports).

Orientation

The Use Workspace Orientation option, when ticked, causes the report to draw diagrams with the same orientation that you have specified for the workspace in the Orientation Options.

However, you can independently control the orientation of fretboard diagrams in reports.  By removing the tick from Use Workspace Orientation, the Custom button becomes enabled.

Pressing the Custom button opens a property window containing a custom set of Orientation settings for the report.  These include the display and positioning of note, degree and fret number labels, where applicable.

The bottom of the Orientation area displays text labels to indicate the current fretboard orientation.

Diagram Sizing

The Diagram Sizing area control the size of diagrams across the page.  This can greatly vary the number of diagrams that fit on a page, and therefore how many pages the report occupies.

With the Automatic option ticked, ChordWizard will generally make the best sizing estimate for you.  However you can override this and specify your own sizing from the Fit ... Wide dropdown list.

In either case, the resulting number of diagrams vertically on the page is calculated, based on the page size and orientation, the diagram shape and orientation, and any extra text attached to the diagrams.

Extra Text

The Extra Text options can include some extra text elements with each diagram.

For Chord Book reports, these are the Chordshapes tablature code, and the Matching Chords.

For Scale Chart reports, these are the Scale Name and Label Scheme (for a series of label schemes) or Fret Position (for a series of full or partial scale positions).

You can have these text elements placed Above or Below the diagram.

Show True String Thickness

When ticked, this option shows bass strings with a greater thickness than treble strings, making the orientation of the diagram more obvious.  Generally, this is recommended.

However, by removing the tick you can have all strings shown with the same thickness, giving the diagram a more classic look.

Round Labels

This option applies to Scale Chart reports only.  It causes diagram labels to be displayed as circles instead of rectangles.

Some prefer the visual effect of this, but note that for note or degree labels with accidental symbols (#/b) it can cause the label text to overflow the circle, unless you reduce its size in the Formatting page.

Reset

Resets all settings in the Diagrams page to the system defaults.
