The Select Report window is always the first step when working with reports, and appears in response to the following commands:
| Button | Key | Menu |
| Ctrl+P | File-Print | |
| File-Print Preview | ||
| Options-Printing |
Depending on the command, the caption of the window may be Print, Print Preview or Printing Options.
This window sets the context for working with reports, including the report type and the viewing mode. It also offers functions for creating and using report templates.
Controls
Report Type
Lists as icons all of the report types available in the current view of the workspace.
Depending on which type you select, you will have different templates and options available.
Print Preview First
Indicates that you want to enter Print Preview to check the report layout before printing.
Show Printing Options
Indicates that you want to open the Printing Options window to make changes to the report layout settings.
Template
This drop-down list contains all of the template files of the selected report type that are found in the Templates folder. Templates for other report types are not listed, unless you change the Report Type.
If you have just saved or reloaded a template, it will be the current selection in the list. If any changes have been made since, the (custom settings) item will be displayed instead, as shown above.
Save As
Saves the current settings for the selected report type to a template file. A File Save window appears where you can enter the name and location of the template file.
You should save templates in the designated Templates folder, otherwise they will not appear in the Template list, and cannot be reloaded.
OK
Accepts the current settings, and proceeds either to print, to enter Print Preview, or to open the Printing Options window, as requested.
Cancel
Closes the window and returns to the workspace without opening or printing the report.
