Although ChordWizard can have only one library open at a time, it is possible to have more than one copy of ChordWizard running at once, each with a different library open.
While this allows you work with more than one instrument at the same time, it also allows you transfer individual chordshapes from one library to another. This is especially useful if you are creating a new library to hold just the chordshapes in a particular song.
Each time you run an additional copy of ChordWizard, it is aware of the previous ChordWizard windows, and presents the Open Additional Library window at startup.
You can choose here whether to Create a New Library or to Switch to an Existing Library. If you press Cancel, the new copy of ChordWizard will create a new library based on the instrument specified in the default options.
Transferring Chordshapes
With two or more copies of ChordWizard running you can easily transfer chordshapes from one library to another.
First activate the copy of ChordWizard with the source library, and in the Library List select the chordshape you want to transfer. You can transfer it with the Chordshape-Send To menu command or the Send To command on the right-click popup menu over the Library List.
Both of these open a further popup menu containing a list of all the other libraries currently open in other copies of ChordWizard. Select the destination library from this list, and the chordshape will be transferred.
You will be prompted with a message box if the transfer was unsuccessful. This might be if the chordshape already exists in the destination library, or if the instruments in the two libraries are incompatible.
Restrictions with Multiple Libraries
In order to keep Workspace Options and Printing Options synchronized between multiple copies of ChordWizard running at the same time, ChordWizard imposes certain restriction on how these options may be updated when more than one copy of ChordWizard is running.
• If the Workspace Options window is open in any copy of ChordWizard, it is disabled in all other copies until the window is closed, at which point any changes made are immediately reflected in the other copies.
• If either the Printing Options window or the Select Report window is open in any copy of ChordWizard, they are both disabled in all other copies until the open window is closed, at which point any changes made are immediately reflected in the other copies.
• Any changes to Overlay Labels in any copy of ChordWizard are immediately reflected in the other copies.
