The Library List displays the chordshapes in the library, together with the chord that they can be used to play.
In the example above, the selected chordshape is 332010 (in tablature notation) and it can be used to play the Cmaj chord. The selected chordshape is shown in full detail on the Fretboard.
At the bottom of the Library List is a line of text, for example "Chordshape 5 of 11", indicating how many chordshapes are in the list and which one is selected.
The Library List is colored green to indicate that it deals with chordshapes. Many screen elements in the ChordWizard workspace are color-coded in this way. You can change any workspace colors with the Display options.
At any time, or you can create a new library from scratch, and add your own chordshapes to it.
Chordshape Groups
Chordshapes are usually indexed into groups to keep chordshapes together which have the same matching chords. Within groups, they are arranged in a particular sort order.
Any chordshapes which do not have any matching chords are shown together in the last group of the Library List.
In the example above, the chordshape xx5988 is marked with red question mark at the left. This indicates that it does not satisfy your Searching options and may not be an appropriate chordshape for you to use.
Browsing Chordshapes
There are several commands you can use to change the selected chordshape, or can simply click on the row in the list that you are interested in.
| Button | Key | Menu |
| Home | Chordshape-First | |
| Page Up | Chordshape-Prior Group | |
| Up | Chordshape-Prior | |
| Down | Chordshape-Next | |
| Page Down | Chordshape-Next Group | |

Exploring Chordshapes
When you select a chordshape, ChordWizard will automatically play its sound, depending on the settings in Sound Options. If you want to hear the sound of a chordshape at any time, you can play with the following command
| Button | Key | Menu |
| F5 | Chordshape-Play |
You can also play the selected chordshape with a manual strum by hovering the mouse pointer over the fretboard and pressing the right mouse button. The pointer will change to a plectrum, which you can use to strum the chordshape.
You can view the notes of a chordshape as they would appear on staff lines in standard music notation. You can open the View Staff window for the selected chordshape with the following command:
| Button | Key | Menu |
| Ctrl+F5 | Chordshape-View Staff |
Filtering Libraries
If you wish, you can browse the entire list of chordshapes in the library, but it is generally more useful to set a filter to restrict the list to just those chordshapes you are interested in.
The typical filter you will use with libraries is a chord filter. For example, you may wish to find all of the chordshapes which you can use for playing an Am7 chord. However, there are also many other filter criteria available for use with libraries.
Because the chord filter is the most common criteria, ChordWizard includes a Chord Matrix as one of the screen areas within Library View. If you want to change other filter criteria, you will need to use the Set Filter window, or the Filter Bar.
Editing Libraries
ChordWizard is supplied with standard libraries of chordshapes for common instruments and tunings. You can edit the chordshapes in the current library with the following commands:
| Button | Key | Menu |
| Ins | Chordshape-New | |
| Chordshape-Edit | ||
| Ctrl+Del | Chordshape-Delete |
The New and Edit command will take you to Design View, so that you can enter your new chordshape design. From there, once your changes are complete, you will need to press the Add to Library button to complete the editing process.
The Delete command will remove the selected chordshape from the library. Depending on your General Options, you will be prompted with a confirmation message before the chordshape is deleted.
If you are adding or deleting a movable chordshape, you may also have the option of adding or deleting the whole movable series at the same time.
Large scale changes can be made to libraries by purging unwanted chordshapes in one operation. You can specify which chordshapes to purge from the library using the Purge Chordshapes window with the Chordshape-Purge command.
Undoing Changes
ChordWizard always remembers the last New, Edit, Delete, Purge or Import operation you perform. It can be reversed immediately afterwards with the following command:
| Key | Menu |
| Ctrl+Z | Chordshape-Undo |
