How do I get Cmaj chord to appear only as C
Go to Options-Workspace-Chord Types.
Select the maj chord type and press Edit.
In the name field, replace "maj" with a single space character.
Press OK and everything will update.
Hi, I too want this but it didn't work for me. I altered the Chord Types as above (even re-started SongTrix) but the maj stubbornly remains in the tables and mixer views. It did work for the maj7 which I edited to M7.
I am running the latest verion 3.01d
Mystified!
That's odd, I just checked witgh 3.01d and it worked for me.
Are you sure you are putting the space in? An empty text field will not be accepted. How about some other text instead, just to test it?
Yes I tried two spaces and also tried a -
Neither worked
Windows 7 Ultimate
Will try on a Vista m/c tomorrow
Just tried it with Vista - same result.
However the conclusion I have is that this only works completely for NEW files, it does not work for existing files.
On existing files I can see the change from maj7 -> M7
but I cannot see the change maj -> 'space' (or any other character)
- can you replicate this?
So what happens? Songtrix refuses to accept the characters in the list? Or it shows them in the list but something else in the matrix controls?
On a new song, it accepts the space character or whatever you put in during a chord edit in the workspace window, and the track views shows the new chord definition.
When opening an existing song the workspace chord edit window allows me to put in a space but when closed and I display a matrix it does not show the change, nor does the track view update either
- have you tried it on one of your saved songs, not a new song?
Ah yes, that explains it.
Songs carry with them the definitions of all chord and scale types used in the song.
This is in case the song is opened in some other copy of Songtrix which is not aware of the chords or scales used in it.
So, the song's definition of the chords and scales overrides the workspace defaults.
So, as you observed, for new songs, you should change the chord name in the Workspace Options as described above.
But for existing songs, you should update the song's chord definiton, using:
Song-Setup
From the Tracks page, press the Setup Chords button on the right to open the Track Setup window
Switch to the Chords Used page
Select the maj chord and press Edit
Update it there
You can also get to the Chords Setup window directly from the panel in Mixer View.
