MIDI Recording Issue

Anytime I click the "record" button, under any circumstances, I get an error that kills the app completely.  I'm running a DELL XPS with 16 GB of ram ... Windows 64 bit OS.  My MIDI interface is a (Mark of the Unicorn) MOTU Micro Lite ... MOTU is great stuff, their drivers are rock solid, never had a problem, so ...

Anybody else who might be running Windows 7 64 bit having any issues ?

I switched to Microsoft GS Wavetable synth ... same result.  Sometimes the app will get through the "count in" bar before the error pops up ... correction to above post ... Windows 7 64 bit OS.

OK ... I switched back to my original MIDI configuration, loaded up one the songs that came with SongTrix (Be Stiil My Child), and attempted to record into an empty segment of the "Riff" track.  everything worked as advertised, so ... there's obviously something is wrong with the song I'm working on (which is a MIDI import).  I'm not sure what song level settings could cause the app to throw that error ... I guess it's time for experimentation and troubleshooting !!

Sorry for being so verbose, but I'm trying to give you as complete a picture of this issue as I can ... whilst troubleshooting.  I can MIDI record just fine when I use one of the songs that came with the application as a "starting point".  I can also record just fine when I create a new song (blank slate, no styles).  "MIDI through" works fine while recording new events.

The problem is when I try to record in a track from a song that was imported from a MIDI file.  The "fatal error" occurs when the application starts playback when in record mode ... after the "count in" bar(s).

If you get the error consistently with a particular starting song, this is great news.

Can you send a copy through to network@chordwizard.com and we should  be able to reproduce the problem and find out exactly what is going wrong.

OK, found the problem.  This is a bug and not really anything to do with your song at all.  To workaround the problem you can either:

1. Remove the Scales track from the song

2. Keep the Scales track, but before recording into the Riff track, use the Record Options windows to change the Melody Input - Enforce Scale to either Adjust Accidentials or Prevent Accidentals, as the (none) option exposes the fault.

We have now fixed this fault, and the fix will be available in the the next release of Songtrix, hopefully within a few days.

Thanks, Stephen ... now that's what is known as "customer service" ... and developer dedication to their product !!  I would be glad to write you a testimonial for your public facing website, if you would like !!
