The Chord Sheet page appears in the Printing Options property window for Chord Sheet reports.
In addition to the controls shown below, there are extra buttons which are common to all property windows.
The Chord Sheet report is quite different to, and usefully supplements the Staff Sheet and Lyric Sheet reports.
Chord sheets can include lyrics and chords, presenting them concisely and aligned with the song's bar structure, which is often all that is needed for performance of accompaniment or improvisation.
It consists of three layers on each line, the controls, which are placed above the chords, which are placed above the lyrics. An optional frame can be displayed around the lyrics and/or the chords.
Controls
Frame Around
Specifies if, and how, a frame should be drawn on each line.
(none) - no frame is drawn
Lyrics - the frame is drawn around the lyrics but not the chords
Both - the frame is drawn around the lyrics and the chords
Bar Markers
Specifies how the beginning of each bar should be indicated on the frame. This option is disabled if there is no frame selected to be drawn.
(none) - the bars are not marked
Marks - the bars are indicated with simple vertical marker lines
Numbers - the bars are indicated with marker lines and their bar numbers
Time Signatures
Specifies whether time signature changes should be indicated on the frame. This option is disabled if there is no frame selected to be drawn.
Line Length
Specifies the length of the work sheet lines, measured in quarter notes. This effectively controls the horizontal sizing of work sheets.
If From Song is selected, the value used in the Song Setup will be used. Otherwise you can select a particular value from 8 Qtn to 32 Qtn.
A typical value is 16 Qtn, which fits four 4/4 bars per line. Other values may work better for other time signatures, for example a line length of 18 Qtn would fit six 3/4 bars per line.
Cell Height
Specifies the vertical sizing of the lines, which can vary from 50% to 200% of the normal height.
Line Spacing
Controls the spacing between the lines, which can vary from 50% to 200% of the normal spacing.
Fit Lyrics
Fit Chords
Specifies how these text items are to be placed where they are too large to fit exactly where they should be.
Compress - stay at the correct location, but compress horizontally to fit
Shift - stay at the correct width, but shift horizontally to fit
Both - compress and shift to moderate the effect of both
Slash Bass
Specifies how slash chord notation is to be handled in the display of chords:
(none) - don't use it at all
If Specified - use it for chords which have a non-root note specified as the bass pitch in their inversion
If Inversion - use it for chords which produce a non-root note as their bass pitch, whether specifically requested in their inversion, or automatically generated.
Divide With
Specifies how divisions between sections should be indicated:
(none) - do not divide sections, simply continue the new section on the same line as the previous one
New Line - make each section start on a new line
New Line Gap - make each section start on a new line with a separator gap
New Page - make each section start on a new page
Reset
Resets all settings on the page to their default values.
