The Search List window can be opened in Design View, using the following command:
| Button | Menu |
| Chordshape-Search List |
It allows you to search the fretboard for a whole list of chordshapes which satisfy both the filter and the Searching options. There are similar commands available directly from Design View where you can search for chordshapes one at a time.
As soon as the Search List window appears, it starts searching for suitable chordshapes on either side of the current chordshape design (by the default sort order). While the search is underway, progress is indicated by the counts of chordshapes scanned and chordshapes found at the top of the window.
Searching stops when no more suitable chordshapes can be found, or when the list has reached it maximum size. Any of the chordshapes resulting from the search can be added to the library.
Controls
Search Results List
This displays all of the chordshape search results which have been found. It is similar to the Library List, except there is no grouping.
Chordshapes in the list which already exist in the library are indicated with a green plus symbol. Normally this only occurs immediately after you add them from the Search List window.
The selected chordshape in the list is automatically transferred back to the Design Panel and the Fretboard in the workspace. It there are any matching chords for the chordshape, they are shown in the Matching Chord List.
With careful placement of the Search List window on the screen, you can view the details of each chordshape as you move through the list.
If you hold down the Ctrl key, you can select multiple chordshapes in the list. In this case, the workspace is updated with the most recently selected chordshape. A multiple selection of chordshapes can be added to the library together.
Select All
Selects all chordshapes in the search results list. This multiple selection of chordshapes can be added to the library together. This button is only visible once a search process has finished.
Prior
Searches for suitable chordshapes in the prior direction (by the default sort order) starting with the first chordshape in the search results list. It continues until no more chordshapes can be found in the prior direction, or until the list is full.
This button is disabled if there are no more suitable chordshapes in the prior direction.
Next
Searches for suitable chordshapes in the next direction (by the default sort order) starting with the last chordshape in the search results list. It continues until no more chordshapes can be found in the next direction, or until the list is full.
This button is disabled if there are no more suitable chordshapes in the next direction.
Size
Specifies the maximum size of the search results list. This can be set to 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500. Longer lists hold more search results, but take longer to fill.
The smallest size is a good choice as the Search List window is designed for viewing 10 search results at once without using the scroll bar.
Play Chordshape
Plays the selected chordshape in the search results list.
Add to Library
Adds the selected chordshape(s) to the library. This button is disabled if the selected chordshape is already stored in the library.
For movable chordshapes, or a multiple selection, you will be prompted with the Movable Series window which displays all of the chordshapes to be added to the library.
Close
Closes the Search List window and returns to Design View.
