Manuals

The Matrix page appears in the Printing Options property window for Relations reports.

Each chord or scale group within a Relations report consists of a single matrix.  The Matrix page controls how each Relations matrix in the report is displayed.

Controls

Rows Per Page

Specifies the vertical sizing of the matrix.  A larger number of rows per page means a smaller row height.

Width on Page

Specifies the horizontal sizing of the matrix.  A width of less than 100% causes the Frame Align control to become active, so you can select the alignment of matrix across the page.

Borders

Specifies the line weights to be used for the Inner Frame and Outer Frame of the matrix. These can be any of:

(none) - No line

Hairline - Very thin line (approx 0.5 pt)

Light - Thin line (approx 1 pt)

Medium - Medium line (approx 2 pt)

Heavy - Thick line (approx 3 pt)

Show Empty Rows

Specifies whether empty rows in the matrix (those where no cell contains an indicator mark) should be hidden.

Ticking this option keeps the matrix in each chord or scale group the same size, making comparison easier, but it uses more paper.  Unticking it makes the report as compact as possible.

Show Orphan Headings

When the whole of a matrix does not fit on a page the remaining rows are carried over to the top of the next page.  This part is known as an orphan (being split from its parent matrix).

The Show Orphan Headings option specifies whether to add a heading to the top of the orphan matrix, to make the notes of each column more apparent.

Row Headings

This option specifies where to put the matrix row headings (chord or scale types).  It is similar to the Matrix Row Headings in the General page of the Workspace Options.

Left - places the headings at the left of the matrix, which is where they are generally expected in tabular layouts.

Right - places the headings at the right of the matrix, which can be more convenient to read the chord or scale for a matrix cell.  That is, starting with a column heading, moving the eye down the column to the cell and then across to the row heading.

Frame Align

This option only becomes enabled when the Width on Page is set to less than 100%.  In this case it allows you to select whether you want the table frames to be aligned to the Left, Center or Right of the page.

Relations Indicator

Specifies how to indicate a related chord or scale within a matrix cell.  There are three options:

Square Marker - Draws a square block in the cell

Circle Marker - Draws a circular block in the cell

Text Character - Draws the specified character in the cell.  You can use this in conjunction with the font of the Relations Indicator element (eg. Wingdings) on the Formatting page, to access almost any possible shape or symbol.

Reset

Resets all settings in the Matrix page to the system defaults.
