Leadsheet

Hi,

with various improvements Songtrix seems to me to be
a very valuable songwiting tool.

But to be able to use the finished song it should be possible
to hand it to musicians in the form of a leadsheet.

Various forms might be helful in different contexts,
the simplest and the one I would use ist the vertical lines for bars whith chord symbols and the lyrics. Important: the lyrics currently are handled in a strange way. For a leadsheet the wdth and spacing shoudd be based on the lyrics!

regards

Marc

We are working on staff notation printing at the moment, and a lead sheet will be part of this.  Would be interested in your comments when these are available in the next beta release.

I think you are talking about the Brief Sheet report which is chords+lyrics.  It's true the lyrics are scaled to fit the timebase.

One reason is that using the brief sheet for instrumental music there would be no lyrics.  We'll look at alternatives for spacing though.

Hi,

the type of lead sheet is definitely not the only one needed :-)))
What I primarily need is lyrics, chords + (important) bars (vertical lines)

This type of lead sheet is definitely a necessity to the average musician.

You can print Lyrics+Chords with the Lyric Sheet report, with the layout being controlled by the lyrics.

Or you can print Lyrics+Melody+Chords with the Staff Sheet report, with the layout controlled by the bar structure.

Do neither of these suit your needs?

Lyrics+Melody+Chords looks quite interesting. Is there an option to have the bars more prominently visible?

is it possible to have various verses below the chord symbols?

>  Is there an option to have the bars more prominently visible?

Do you mean the bar numbers?  They can be enlarged with the Formatting page of the Printing Options.

There cannot at this stage be multiple verses under the bars.   Songtrix for simplicity treats the song as a single continuous piece of music, rather than showing repeats as some sheet music does.

We will be looking at allowing more complex arrangements like this in a future product.

I need the Chords + Melody + lyrics displayed for each measure.  The reports I looked at did not have all of the lines for the staff.  I also would like the ability to change the spacing of the lyrics to align with their respective notes and timings.

I appologize if some of this is possible currently, I just received Songtrix Gold and have only been playing with for a few days.

Both of these should be possible.

The Staff Sheet report with only the Chords, Melody and Lyrics tracks selected in the Printing Options should give you what you want.

For lyric placement, this depends on where you put the lyric text events in the Lyrics track, but it's easy to get them to align with the Melody track notes, using the Snap To Notes option in Song-Setup-Links (activated by default).
