At the risk of appearing a complete dummy , please tell me how to access and play the demo music.

Once you've installed Songtrix, you should be able to get to the demo songs with a simple File-Open Song.
Songtrix should normally then open the usual File-Open box, pointing to the Songs folder within the installation folder. If you accepted the default location when you installed, this will be:
C:\Program Files\ChordWizard Songtrix Beta 3.0\Songs
ChordWizard Songs have a file extension of *.cws
If there's still a problem, add a comment with more detail.
