Hi,
I seem to be missing the Microssoft Midi-Player synth thing for reasons I do not quite understand. Obviously there is no midi playback.
I tried to get this to work routing midi to Cubase SX and use that for playback, but I did not manage to get this to work either. The behaviour is rather strange - there seems to be some mixup in the midi channels.
How is this supposed to work?

Do you mean the Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth? That's odd, most version of Windows come with this.
What MIDI Out device do you normally use? If you open Options-Workspace-MIDI Setup, what output devices are listed?

yes. I recently had to install anew (1 week work), so everything
should be fresh.
I have a Motu Midi Timepiece AV which works pretty seamless....
All the midi timepiece ports are shown plus the midi mapper which of my understanding should route to the wavetabe synth. As I did not hear anything playing, I tried to play a standard midi file media player but alos no sound. The same midi devices are shown in the windows audio setup.
I actually never use that, so I did not check, when I did the reinstallation...

If you are not getting sound from a midi file via the standard media player, then the problem is somewhere in the hardware/device driver setup on your PC.
Once you get that solved, Songtrix should work OK as well.
