MIDI import

When you download a midi with 10-15 tracks, it would be useful to have the possibility to import them all, using for example duplicate destination tracks (i.e. multiple melody tracks).
This is possible.
In step 1, select all of the tracks you want to import (Songtrix defaults to selecting one source per destination track, choosing the ones with the most notes, but you can change this).
In step 2, at the right hand side you can manually assign the same destination track to more than one source track.
Where more than one track is merged like this, Songtrix will take the voice and other channel settings for the destination track from the upper track assigned. So you want to shift the source tracks up or down (with the buttons) to decide which one you want to use for these settings.
That's much closer, however what I meant was eventually to be able to import multiple tracks (i.e. melody) but separated so to keep the original settings of the original tracks.
I understand that can sound naive, I don't know how difficult is to increase the number of tracks over the 8 actually available.
OK, what you want is more tracks.
Songtrix is designed to only have 8 tracks (with 5 "sound" tracks + chord, scale and lyrics), to keep the interface as clean and simple as possible.
While this is enough to create the essential feel of a song, it is always nice to have extra tracks, and it does make it a little fiddly to import a midi file containing more than 5 tracks.
Songtrix is the first of a series of products based on the same framework. The next product will work in the same way, but have up to 32 sound tracks for a much bigger sound. This will be under development next year.
After that we will apply the same song functions to a guitar specific product, combining the features of Songtrix with ChordWizard Gold.
For the moment, the only way to get more independant tracks is to split the song across more than one ChordWizard Song. You can then export them to midi files, and import them into some other software for recording.
This may be too difficult for most people to bother, but remember that the point of Songtrix is as a worksheet to create the idea of a song, not necessarily to create the final version for recording.
