Adding message/friend button

I recently joined and have completed my profile. When I look at the profile from the member page there is no send message/add friends that is on other member's names.
Have I not completely finished my profile or have I missed a button somewhere?

Hi neal, they are missing on your profile just because you are logged in as you.
You can't send a message to yourself, or add yourself as your own friend.
But those buttons are visible on your profile when it is seen by other members.
