The Chord Types page appears in the Workspace Options property window.
In addition to the controls shown below, there are extra buttons common to all property windows
Songtrix includes an extensive list of standard chord types, and you can modify them with the Chord Types page. Beginners may wish to deactivate all but the basic chord types. Advanced players may wish to add their own custom chord types.
Songtrix allows you to add an unlimited number of new chord types, or to rename and adjust standard chord types, integrating the changes seamlessly into all operations.
| With Songtrix Silver and Bronze Editions, which are designed for Beginner and Intermediate levels, only a limited set of chord types are supplied, and they cannot be extended. However unlimited chord types are supported with Songtrix Gold Edition. |
The workspace chord types on this page are available to new songs exactly as listed. However, once a chord has been used in a song, a copy of its chord type is stored with the song, and this can be modified independently with the Chords Used page.
While a song remains open, the chord types stored with it override the equivalent workspace chord types. This ensures that any dependencies the song has on custom or modified chord types are respected wherever the song file is opened.
Controls
Chord Types
The Chord Types list is the main feature in the Chord Types page. It has one row for each chord type that is defined. The list has two columns, for the Name of the chord types, and for their Degrees.
The individual degrees of a chord type may be optional, in which case they are shown in (brackets). Or they may be required, in which case they are shown in bold.
A required degree must be present in a matching chord. Not all degrees have equal importance within a particular chord type.
The required degrees of the standard chord types are carefully chosen to give optimum results. However, you can modify these and other properties of chord types if you wish.
Activate
Activates the selected chord type, so that it will be available throughout the workspace, in chord matrix controls and other situations where chord types are listed. Active chord types appear in black text.
The top-right of the Chord Types list indicates how many chord types are active out of the total number. In the picture above, this is (7/57 active).
Deactivate
Deactivates the selected chord type, so that it will not appear anywhere in the workspace, unless it is used by the current song. Inactive chord types appear in gray text.
Move Up
Moves the selected chord type up one place in the list. Chord types appear in this order wherever they are used throughout the workspace.
Move Down
Moves the selected chord type down one place in the list.

You can modify both custom and standard chord types, although there are some restrictions on what changes can be made to the latter.

Note that you can only delete custom chord types. If you want to get rid of a standard chord type, you should deactivate it instead.
Play Chord Type

Reset
Opens the Reset Chord Types window, where you can selectively reset aspects of the chord types in the list back to the default state of the standard chord types.
