Working with text

Hi,
for me the way you currently treat text is rather strange. I would rather recommend a fluent text entry with the possibility to move the text around.
For a serious songwriter I think lyrics are extremely important, so they should be very easy to edit, move around and stuff.
Also there should be a feature for multiple verses to the same music with the possibility to change it later. Printout in full (music with all lyrics) or reduced versions (music with first verse then only lyrics).
Additionaly when working with text what would be interesting is an integration or inclusion of functions with a text tool like Masterwriter (has), i.e. Rhyming dictionary, alliterations, Thesaurus, etc...
This would make an EXTREMELY powerful tool...

Each item of lyric text is treated as a separate event with a distinct location and duration.
We believe this does make sense, although perhaps seems strange at first sight. Lyrics, like the melody notes they accompany, do exist at a certain point in the song's time. They need to be anchored to this spot, so that Songtrix can make a decent effort to fit everything in the right place when for example, long or rapid words can make spacing a bit tight.
You should find it reasonably comfortable to enter lyrics simply by typing. A whole bunch of lyrics can be moved at once with multiple select + arrow keys, same as the musical events of other tracks.
Also, try activating Snap To Notes in Song-Setup-Links between the Lyrics Track and Melody Track. When entering lyrics, the cursor will automatically move to the start of the next melody note for each new syllable.
Multiple verses will be handled in a future product, planned to have individual sections which can be fitted together with a song plan. For repeated sections (such as verses) this would work well. Since Songtrix is based on a single section containing the whole song, this vertical stacking is not needed.
Love the idea of a rhyming dictionary, and other text tools. Will think about this...
Hi,
again to this topic - takes some getting used to
but ssems to work. But what is really tedious is that
when editing lyrics there is no reference to the chordal
or melody or whatever structure.
With the "snap to notes" option, what does it help if I do
not see the melody at all?
In Track mode I can at least fuind out - but only with
looking up the right bar from the lyric view below - not
very nice.
Also I really think there should be a seperate lyric mode
where one can work text oriented...

You should be able to see the melody above the lyrics. Check the following:
1. Song-Setup-Links
2. There should be a tick in Show Melody in the box between the Melody and Lyrics.
How does this work if I only have chords and lyrics?
I start a song on acoustic guitar with singing...
but with the melody it works fine as you said!
Maybe a small piano roll would help to have a vertical reference...
With only chords and lyrics, you won't see the melody at all. At present the Lyrics track can only linked to the Melody track, although this may change in future products.
You could try Track-Exchange to copy the Chord+Rhythm track to the Melody track before entering the lyrics, then erasing the Melody track afterwards for the real melody.
