The Convert Meter window is opened from the workspace with the Song-Convert Meter command.
It allows you to transform the time signatures of the bars in a song.
This can be used to restress the accent in the meter (for example, splitting each bar of 4/4 into two bars of 2/4).
Or it can be used to improve staff notation with swing timing (for example, converting each bar of 4/4 into 12/8).
Due to the interdependencies of bar boundaries, Convert Meter is only available where the whole song uses a single time signature.
For a mixed time signatures, this can be achieved in a more involved operation by creating the desired bar structure first, then using Paste Special with Align Bars set to Stretch/Shrink.
Controls
Time Signature
Displays the current time signature and allows you to select the new time signature for the song.
Each time signature has a limited list of possible conversions, but more choices are available with a second application of the Convert Meter process. For example, 4/4 can be converted into 6/8, but only via 2/4 or 12/8).
Bar Ratio
Indicates how many destination bars will be created for each source bar with the selected conversion. In other words, whether bars will be split or joined (or not).
Master Tempo
Converting between simple and compound (triplet) meter requires a change in the tempo to keep the song playing at the same perceived rate.
OK
Closes the window and converts the meter of the song according to the settings.
Cancel
Returns to the workspace without making any change.
