This topic applies only to ChordWizard Gold Edition.  The Silver Edition operates only at Beginner level with a limited set of chord types and scale types that cannot be extended unless you upgrade to the Gold Edition.

ChordWizard uses several areas of settings to make sure that it operates at a playing level that is comfortable for you.

You usually select your preferred playing level during installation, but it is very simple to change it afterwards.  This can give you the opportunity to get a look at what you will see at a more advanced level, as you make further progress.

Step-By-Step

Step 1

You can tell what level you are currently set to by looking at the name of the current library in the title bar of the ChordWizard window.  An example is shown below.

Usually it will start with Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced, which are the three levels that ChordWizard can work at.

Each library contains a collection of chordshapes and other settings, and is designed to operate at one of these levels.

Step 2

You can change playing level simply by switching to another library which is designed for a different level.

Before you do this, notice how many chordshapes are in the current library (from the Status Bar of Library View).  Also notice how many different chord types appear in the rows of the Chord Matrix.

ChordWizard provides the Switch Library window to make moving between libraries easy.  You can open it with the following command:

ButtonKeyMenu
Ctrl+WFile-Switch Library

Step 3

The Switch Library window lets you change either your playing level or instrument.  Here we are interested only in changing Playing Level, and you can see the three options of Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Choose a different one of these without changing the Instrument.  Press the OK button to return to the workspace at your new playing level.

Step 4

Now check again the number of chordshapes in the library and the number of chord types available in the chord matrix (the number of scale types available also changes, by the way).

You will notice these are quite different, and are now presenting you with a much broader or simpler musical perspective, depending on whether you went up or down a level.
