The Switch Library window is opened from the workspace with the following command:
| Button | Key | Menu |
| Ctrl+W | File-Switch Library |
It provides a easy way to move between libraries for different instruments and playing levels.
Only libraries which are located in the designated Libraries folder are accessible from Switch Library. You can change this with the Folders window in the General page of Workspace Options.
If you want to open an occasional library file not located in the Libraries folder, use the Open Library window instead.
Controls
Instrument
This list indicates the instrument and tuning of the library that you want to switch to.
On installation, it contains only the instruments and tunings of the standard libraries supplied with ChordWizard, but as you create new libraries for other instruments, they will also appear in the list.
Any libraries with a custom instrument description will add this description as a separate item in the list, which can access these libraries. This is useful for highlighting personal or special-purpose libraries, such as those containing just the chordshapes in a song.
The selected instrument in this list will narrow down your choice of libraries to those which which are based on the instrument.
Show All Instruments
The Instrument list normally contains only those instruments and tunings represented among the available libraries.
By ticking the Show All Instruments option, you expand the items in the list to include all of ChordWizard's standard instruments and tunings, even if there are no libraries available for them.
This allows you to select any instrument at all for the library you want to switch to. If there are no libraries available for the selected instrument and tuning, you will be transferred to the New Library process which guides you through the process of creating the library you want.
Playing Level
This option group allows you select the playing level (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) of the library you want to switch to.
The playing level affects the Library Options contained within the library, which specify the difficulty of chordshapes and the sophistication of the music theory that you are presented with when working with the library.
| Intermediate and Advanced playing levels require ChordWizard Gold Edition. The Silver Edition operates only at Beginner level. |
Libraries Available
This dropdown list contains all of the available libraries which are based on the selected instrument and tuning in the Instrument list, and the selected Playing Level.
If there is more than one library for the instrument and playing level, the one most recently updated is selected by default. You can select a different library from the dropdown list instead if you prefer.
The last item in the list is (new library), which creates a new library for the selected instrument and playing level instead of switching to an existing library. If no libraries are available for the selected instrument and playing level, this is the only option and the dropdown list is disabled.
OK
This closes the Switch Library window and opens the library which is selected in the Libraries Available dropdown list. If the current library has been changed, you will first be prompted with a message asking whether you want to save changes.
If (new library) is the selected item in the Libraries Available list, you will be instead transferred to the New Library process, which will guide you through the steps required to create a library for the selected instrument and playing level.
Cancel
Closes the Switch Library window without taking any action.
