Segment splitting

How do you go about splitting a segment into 3?
If I am working in 3/4 time and want to put a chord change on the 3rd beat, I need to split into 3 not 4. Is there a way to do that?
Thank you.
This is how I did it, maybe there's a better way?
1. Split the bar multiple times until you see a separation between the beats.
2. Join the segments of each beat.
3. Copy the bar to others as needed.
Hi André,
The problem is creating a split that ends up with 3 even segments (for a 3/4 time). So if I split the segment once, I have 2 equal segments (1.5 beats each). If I split them again, I have 4 equal segment (3/4 of a beat each). If I split them again, I have 8 equal segments (3/8 beats each). What I need is 3 equal segments and I cannot see a way to do that even using joins. The problem is that the splits are done in halves. There needs to be a way to do it in thirds.
André,
I think I see what you mean. I had not been looking at the melody line to see where the splits line up. I believe I have been successful in getting 3 equal segments (with some trial and error). However, to the Songtrix folk, we should be able to say how many equal splits we want in a bar.
Thanks.
I just learned about the "Stretch Segments" function which seems to make it much simpler: you split once, then you hover over a harmony border until the mouse pointer becomes a double arrow. Then you can click and drag the border horizontally to the needed location.
