Manuals

The Scale Matrix in Scales View indicates and controls the scale you are exploring or practising.

Each cell in the matrix represents the scale based on the scale type in the row heading and the root note in the column heading.  For the example above, the row heading is Dorian and the column heading is D, making a D Dorian scale.

The numbers in each cell show how many scale positions there are for each scale.  In the example above, there are 13 scale positions for D Dorian, and you can move between these positions using the Practice Panel Grid, the Scales Bar or by clicking on the Fretboard.

ChordWizard performs an automatic analysis to find scale positions, and the number available depends on the instrument and tuning, the Practice options (particularly the maximum Fret Span) and whether you are working with full or partial positions.

The Scale Matrix is colored red to indicate that it deals with scales.  Many screen elements in the ChordWizard workspace are color-coded in this way.  You can change any workspace colors with the Display options.

When exploring scale positions, you can select a cell in the Scale Matrix to specify which scale you want to see the positions for.  If you are conducting a cycle practice session and you have chosen to vary the scale, the matrix will be updated at each step as the scale changes.

If you make a selection in the Scale Matrix while a practice session is active, the session will be terminated.
