Played a sax when I was a child, and played it pretty well actually. No interest in sax anymore. Used to enjoy a bit of jazz, still do just not as much. I like singer/songerwriters, songs that tell a story with meaning. Folksy tunes, acoustic tunes,acoustic guitar,ukulele, and I like the sound of the cajone. I like music that can be played anywhere anytime without fussy wires, phony sound effects, distortion etc. I do believe good music exists, I feel it just exists more so in the hearts of Godly people. Radio,TV, and even the past musical hits are now beginning to reveal an ugliness I was so long unaware of. I'm not sure I could ever feel comfortable learning any covers for that matter. My quest is to learn enough about music theory and composition so that I can have music in my life again. I have to create what I want since it is so difficult to find genuinity in song these days. Music can so often be filled with double meanings, hidden messages, evil symbolism, and be so decievingly immoral but however, because of the catchy rhythm and beat we can all find ourselves singing/grooving along to it. Now, in retrospect, I have made a point to analyze lyrics of songs from past decades. Hit songs so seemingly upbeat and positive except when better examined I've found some scary truths that have been engrained in our minds for years. Singing along as sheep. I almost considered not pursuing my musical talents since it seems so much is tainted and orchestrated with obvious demonic intent. I could no longer remain blind/deaf just so that I can enjoy music. So my guess is, in my opinion, beautiful music is locked in the hearts of so many and it is time for it to be heard. It may not be embraced to the modern world of sin,depravity and acceptance of all things immoral but atleast it will be a light in the darkness. Music is a gift from God, it is time we use it to it's true potential. I'm not just talking about Christian songs, I am saying it can be cool again for the youth to smile, for adults to laugh and cry at the same time, it can be cool to have to think again. Think beyond the OVERLY done so called"songs" about Political awareness and distrust, Minority discrimination, Violence and Hate,Paranoia, Hardships of so many kind, Death and despair, Sex and Money, and so on. It is time we sing and play music of prosperity. The argument will stand that 'prosperity is not where I am coming from'. 'I am writing from a place of pain or whatever other downtrodden place.'It is a release I get it. We all experience pain and at times endure the most horrific things but we can release that pain by sharing a hopeful message that we can overcome it. If you feel you can't overcome your troubles well I recommend prayer before song. We all have a lot to offer. Take back our music that was God given and shine. The world has enough darkness, it is time to shine. Music can be beautiful with contrast of darkness to light. The contrast can be powerful. However without the light overtaking the dark, the listener will be left lost,confused,sad,angry,etc. Why would we want this for ourselves. Bottom line, learn to play an instrument and or sing, so you won't have to choose the songs you listen to, you can create them. You can offer up light in a dark place.
