I've been playing guitar since I was a teenager (around 14 years old). I am now almost 62 years old. But, up until a couple of years ago, music has been mostly a stop and start process with years in between the stops and starts.
A friend, who is a musician (professional) has inspired and encouraged me to begin again and to continue and I have been playing, learning, and growing with my music ever since. I am even taking a music specialization online with Coursera and the first course -- Developing Your Musicianship -- required me to buy a keyboard. So, I bought one, a 61 key keyboard -- it was all I can afford -- and I am having a grand time learning to play and create music with it. I'm learning to play with both hands -- which is a difficult thing to do -- learning to play the C Major scale with both hands -- which is also difficult to do -- and this is developing great patience in me.
I'm also, learning new stuff on my guitar, like learning to play those pesky barre chords; and I am now trying to break old bad habits by replacing them with better habits, like keeping my fingers close to the fret board, which is very difficult, to do, also and is really developing even greater patience in me, as well, as I slowly and steadily practice Spyder exercise and the F Major scale.
I'm, also, learning more music theory and developing my ear to hear more and more. Sometimes I think that my brain is going to explode, but, it has been a wonder-filled adventure of learning how to play and have fun with it; I am thoroughly enjoying it!!!
